NC Division of Highways Road Work

You probably have seen the roadwork along the sides of Weathersfield Road this week.  The WSG Board has called NC Division of Highways to learn the reason behind the grading work.  The Highway Division says the work is to address drainage problems.  They plan to repair damage caused by their work by reseeding the road shoulders and covering with straw.  There is no date as yet for when the repairs will be done.

You will notice this work is continuing along Millcroft and other roads in Fearrington.  Weathersfield and the other roads are state roads and NC Division of Highways has the right of access and maintenance.  Your WSG Board will continue to follow developments and keep the Division of Highways aware of their responsibility to repair the damage to the roadsides their work has caused.

AGM Meeting Packets Have Been Mailed

The Annual General Membership (AGM) Meeting will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm at the Gathering Place.  In order to be sure there is a quorum to conduct the important business of our community, all homeowners should attend in person or complete a proxy document if they are unable to attend.  A downloadable proxy form is here:  WSG Proxy 2019.

All homeowners have been mailed a meeting packet to review before the meeting.  A copy of that packet can be found here: 2019 AGM Packet (Updated).

UPDATE: AGM Committee Reports were hand-delivered to WSG residents on October 29.  Those reports can also be downloaded by clicking here.

Pruning and Lawn Mowing Information

PRUNING–Ruppert will prune shrubs in the front and side of homes (up to the AC units) and the common areas in each close throughout the community beginning on Monday, September 16 – WEATHER PERMITTING.  They will start with the Eleagnus throughout the community and then focus their pruning on the remaining common area plants and the front and side of homes.

PLEASE DO NOT INTERRUPT THE RUPPERT WORKERS WITH ANY REQUESTS OR ISSUES.  CONTACT HOPE WEBER OR PEGGY AKERS WITH YOUR COMMENTS.

Tag with colored tape any shrub(s) you do not want pruned.  Colored tape will be placed on the bench in each close in a plastic bag.  When you have used the tape, return it in the plastic bag to the bench for your neighbors to use.  The tapes will be collected after pruning is completed. Within 2 weeks following the pruning, please remove any tape that you have put on the shrubs.

LAWN MOWING–Ruppert aerated and overseeded the lawns on Monday, 09/09/19. They have advised us that they will not mow for the next several weeks in order to allow the lawn seeds to take hold. Please understand the grass may be longer than we are used to but there is a valid reason for it.

Thank you – The Landscape Committee

Lawn Aeration in September

Aeration and overseeding of all grass areas will occur on Monday, September 9, 2019, weather permitting.  In preparation for this project, the grass areas may or may not be mowed during the week of September 2 due to the fact that Ruppert has advised they like to let it grow longer prior to aeration.  The grass will be mowed  before the aeration project.

Gardening Session on Fall Planting

The Landscape Committee (Grounds Maintenance and Lot Appearance) is interested in offering educational gardening sessions in the fall and spring seasons to Weathersfield residents on specific topics regarding plantings.

Beginning in September 2019, we have scheduled a session on shrubs/bushes for fall plantings,  since October through December is the best time to plant shrubs.  Members of the Landscape Committee will be available to discuss a range of bushes/shrubs that are evergreen, deer resistant and suitable for our community.  They will also review resources available on-line to consult and the various nurseries offering shrubs/bushes that you can view.
