SPRING PRUNING SCHEDULED FOR MAY 12 – 16
Marking tape will be placed on benches in each Close on Thursday, May 8. If you wish to opt out of pruning, tie a piece of tape around a post on your porch. This will signal that no pruning should take place anywhere on your property (the landscaped areas in front of and along the side of your home).
This variation of the tape system has been adopted by Countryhouse and has worked well.

WEED SPRAYING DELAYED
Spraying did not take place today (Wednesday April 9) due to weather conditions earlier this week. Ruppert will notify me when spraying takes place—hopefully by the end of this week. Another notice will be posted as soon as it is completed. Although I am assured this spray poses no harm to animals, I recommend keeping pets off mulched areas for 48 hours after spraying.
I have conferred directly with the member of the Ruppert crew who will do the spraying. He showed me the no-spray list on his phone and told me he does not need the tape. He has confidence that he can work from the list. Therefore, you may remove the tape at any time. You may leave any unused rolls of tape on a bench in your close and I will pick it up early next week.

WEATHERSFIELD IMPORTANT UPDATE RE: LANDSCAPING AND NEW WSG BOARD
LANDSCAPING:
John Bailey is now the Landscaping Committee Chair, replacing David Piet. When a WSG owner has a landscaping request or issue, please begin by contacting Mill House Properties at HOA@Millhouseproperties.com. Mill House will either address the issue with Ruppert or create a work order. If a work order is needed, the Landscape Committee will look into the issue and give Mill House guidance on how to proceed. This is the protocol that is currently used for our maintenance repairs, and we have found that it works well. Please note, however, that in the event of a true emergency, such as a tree falling on a house, you should contact both Mill House and a Board member.
Please give John Bailey a little time to get up to speed.
NEW WSG BOARD:
For those owners who did not attend the Annual General Meeting on November 2nd, the New WSG Board now consists of the following people:
Steve Krasnow President/Insurance Committee Chai
Rebecca Newton Vice President and Treasure
Maria Tanner Secretary
Bob Spillane Architectural/Nominating Committe
Ernie Clarke Maintenance
John Bailey Landscaping
Joyce Brennan Communications
Daniel Thomas Utilities
PRUNING SCHEDULE
Pruning by Ruppert Landscape will begin in the common areas and parking lots this week, followed by pruning on private property next week.
Marking/flagging tape will be placed on a bench in the common area in each close in Weathersfield. You are responsible for marking any bushes, plants, or shrubs on your private property that you do NOT want pruned. As in the past, tape will be placed on a bench or table in your close. Contact me if you have difficulty finding tape.
REMEMBER: If any plant on your private property is NOT TAPED by November 20, IT WILL BE PRUNED.
Ruppert is only responsible for pruning up to the HVAC and not in backyards.
Ruppert’s fall and winter schedule is from November 2024 to March 2025. This means a bi-monthly (every two weeks) schedule each Wednesday, weather permitting.
2024 Fall Reminders

No Lawn Mowing This Week
As we all know, North Carolina is experiencing extreme heat and drought conditions. It is generally recommended to avoid mowing during these conditions. While Ruppert will continue regular maintenance on Wednesday, it will not include mowing, but will concentrate on other light footprint actions.
Notice for Spring Pruning (May 22 – 31, 2024)
Ruppert Landscape will be pruning in WSG starting Wednesday, May 22 to Friday, May 31, on a Close-by-Close basis, weather permitting. This includes bushes, shrubs, and small trees on both personal property and in Common Areas, especially around parking areas.
The plan is to start on May 22nd beginning in the Common Areas of each Close starting near the Grove and working down to Swim and Croquet. This should take 2 to 3 days to complete.
Once the Common Areas have been completed, Ruppert will start pruning on private property starting May 29th, again starting at the Grove. Weather permitting, this should take 2 to 3 days.
If some Common Areas were missed, Ruppert will complete pruning in those areas after private property has been completed.
Hopefully, pruning should be completed by the first week of June.
Plastic bags with colored marking tape will be distributed to each Close and placed on a bench in the Common or with one of your neighbors. Please check the bench or with your neighbors to obtain the tape. It is important that you use the tape to identify any plants that are on your private property that you DO NOT want Ruppert to prune. Anything NOT marked will be pruned.
Once Ruppert has finished in your Close, please remove the tape from your plants and leave any unused tape on the bench in your Close for pickup.
NOTE: per Ruppert’s contract, the crew will not prune beyond the HVAC system or behind residences. The crew has been instructed not to go beyond these points.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation,
David L. Piet, Landscape Chair
